Instructor(s)

Lecturer Melissa McCue-McGrath

Melissa McCue-McGrath gets peed on and humped way more frequently than should be allowed for a paid gig. Even though she lives in rural Maine presently, Melissa’s primary focus as a trainer and behavior consultant is the impact urban environments have on pet dogs and their families. She authored Considerations for the City Dog in 2015, when she was living in Boston, as a means to give voice to dogs and their people in an often impossible environment. Over the last 20 years, she enthusiastically spread the dog gospel at Tufts University, The Broad Institute/MIT, the New England Federation of Humane Societies, Pet Professional Guild, Raising Canine, the Massachusetts Veterinary Technicians Association, the Boston Museum of Science, the Animal Behavior Society’s Public Day, the PACT Dog X conference in the UK, and multiple visits to the preschoolers at the Michael Capuano School in Somerville, MA, who were a tough -but fair- crowd. She’s also been a faculty advisor for the Victoria Stilwell Training Academy since 2015. Her podcast BewilderBeasts! shines a light on the infinite ways in which animals intersect with humanity. The podcast has a steady world-wide audience and it frequently breaks the top 50 in science / nature podcasts in rankings. She hates pickles, loves whiskey and admits the best way for her to agree to something is by using the phrase, “This is a wild idea, but…”.
